Showing our age?

My mother sent me this and it is really quite funny if you are viewed as "old" by anyone under the age of 20!

WE WERE BRUNG UP PROPER !!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE

1930's 1940's, 50's and 60's, 70's and the 80's

First, we survived being born to mothers who drank while they carried us and lived in houses made of asbestos.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese, raw egg products, loads of bacon and processed meat, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes or cervical cancer.

Then after that trauma, our baby cots were covered with bright coloured lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets or shoes, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle...

Take away food was limited to fish and chips, no pizza shops, McDonalds , KFC, Subway or Nandos.

Even though all the shops closed at
6.00pm and didn't open on the weekends, somehow we didn't starve to death!

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We could collect old drink bottles and cash them in at the corner store and buy Toffees, Gobstoppers, Bubble Gum and some bangers to blow up frogs with.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soft drinks with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because......

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We could leave home in the morning and play all day as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of old prams and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes.. We built tree houses and dens and played in river beds with matchbox cars..

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo Wii, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 999 channels on SKY, no video or dvd,
no mobile phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

Only girls had pierced ears!

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

You could only buy Easter Eggs and Hot Cross Buns at Easter...

We were given air guns and catapults for our 10th birthdays,

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Mum didn't have to go to work to help dad make ends meet!

RUGBY and CRICKET had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! Getting into the team was based on
MERIT

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.
They actually sided with the law!

Our parents didn't invent stupid names for their kids like 'Kiora' and 'Blade' and 'Ridge' and 'Vanilla'

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility
 and we learned HOW TO
DEAL WITH IT ALL !

And YOU are one of them!
CONGRATULATIONS!

PS -The big type is because your eyes are probably not too good anymore

We've also discovered some Kaloo Liliblue baby toys hiding away too!

We will be adding these  to the site very shortly.  This is a discontinued line, so hurry if you are keen to purchase one.  Very small number available.

Here's one of the friends the Kaloo plume bear was hiding with!

And here's one of the other toys the plume bear (mentioned in the earlier post) was hiding with....
His medium plume Kaloo friend the pink rabbit.  There were two of these naughty toys hiding with the blues.  They have come out of hiding and are now ready to find a new home and little baby to take care of them.  Hurry though if you are considering rehoming one or both of this pair.  They are becoming very sought after as the plume range along with others have been discontinued.

Also hiding with the rabbit and bear were 1x medium yellow cat and 1x medium mint rabbit, 1x large pink rabbit, 1x large blue rabbit and 1x large multi-coloured patchwork bear!! Naughty toys.

Kaloo baby toy - Blue Bear 961301 - 3 strays located!!

We have just managed to locate 3 more Kaloo medium plume baby toys (plume blue bear - 961301) hiding away with some other Kaloo friends, who we will expose identities in later posts!

The plume range has recently been reviewed and a number of Kaloo toys have been discontinued and replaced with new designs due out soon.  The plumes are really well sought after and will not stay around for very long.  Some retailers are really hyping the prices up on these toys.  We are keeping our prices competitive and have even reduced a few lines....but hurry.  No time to sit and ponder. The cupboard may soon be bare of bears!!

Kaloo baby toy - 962551 reduced (One Only)

Another Kaloo soft baby toy up for grabs.  This time it is a unisex design in bright colours and with a crocodile motif on its tummy.  From the 123 range, this small chubby bear is a great gift for any newborn baby.  One only available at the moment.

Kaloo plume bear comforter - one only!

We are having a bit of a clearout of stock this month.  There will be other Kaloo items advertised.  If you are interested in getting to know what's on offer, then if you're not already doing so, sign up to receive e-mail notifications of our blog and/or follow us on Twitter, where we will be announcing the item as it becomes available.

The Kaloo plume range has recently gone under review and a number of items are being redesigned or discontinued.  The baby comforters, which include the pink rabbit, the fuschia mouse, the mint rabbit and the blue bear, have all been effected.  Whilst we do have some stock of the bigger items still available, we only have the ONE solitary blue bear in the doudou/comforter size The code for the bear is: 961345 if you have been asked to find one via the code number.

NB: Some retailers are pricing them at more than double the RRP due to the fact that they are now becoming quite rare!
