Little Mischiefs in 2 places at once over the weekend!

We enjoyed being in two places at once over the weekend.  Manning a stall at the first of Chatsworth House' Christmas Markets (we will be there next weekend as well!) and also adorning the side of Mark Bennett's Alpine Renault A310 1978 2.7V6  on the historic sports car club stand at the Classic Motorshow - NEC

What a hectic jolly life we lead!

Lovely day at Harrogate yesterday

I visited the Home and Gift Trade fair at Harrogate yesterday and had a very good day.  The highlight of my day was at LONG LAST I actually managed to meet the gorgeous Barry from Terramundi!  For 7 long years I have spoken to this lovely man.  He has always been professional and gives 100%, actually no I mean 200%, to his enthusiasm and commitment to the company.  His customer service is exceptional and it was fantastic to see him representing the business alongside Darius (the big boss - who incidentally is also a very nice man....In fact, I can only say good things about Terramundi and everyone who is part of it!!  I admire them all!!)

I also managed to get to put a face to the name of a  lovely Twitter friend Becky who runs DOTS AND SPOTS (https://twitter.com/dotsandspotsbiz).  She was having a great show.  Not difficult there, with all her lovely stuff!  Lovely to meet you too Becky.

Little Mischiefs needs your help please

We are currently reviewing some of our product ranges, one being the Baby and new parent gift hampers.  Would you mind helping us with our quest to get it right?

If you have recently been blessed with the joy of a new baby to your world, you will most likely have been overwhelmed by numerous gorgeous gifts too.  This is where we would like you to tell us what you think.

If you were to receive a gift hamper celebrating the birth of your new baby/babies, what sort of gifts would you LIKE to find in the hamper?    Was there a special gift that you received either for baby or for yourself that you really loved?  Would you have preferred to receive gifts before the birth, straight after  or a couple of months later?

We'd love to hear from you.  If you would like to help us, please e-mail us, or leave comments below.  And a BIG thank you in advance!

Owls are flying all over the world!

Our owl costume is proving to be a winner at the moment.  It is a very popular choice for many young aspiring stars (school plays especially).  Owls have flown our nest and made their way over to Germany, Australia and the USA as well as numerous spots in the UK!

This beautifully feather trimmed cape with mask to match is one size and suitable for children (of average height for their age) between the ages of 3 and 8.  It is a great price too at £22 + p&p (RRP £25).

If you would like to order one, just click on this link and follow the order process.  If choosing to pay via PayPal, please ensure that all the requested information is filled in on both the Little Mischiefs form and the PayPal form.  If delivery is required for outside of the UK, please e-mail us before placing your order.

Up Up and Away...Away Away....

We had a bit of a break last week for half term and watched my mum go up in a balloon.  The weather was fantastic for it.  Despite nearly missing it, because we were stuck in rush hour traffic getting to the launch site, the stress was short lived and turned to excitement.  There were 2 spaces still available, which didn't help when her grandson was desperate to go too, but was 3 inches too short!!  (Nothing to do with the price and the fact we were not prepared for that sort of announcement!!)

The flight was supposed to last between 3/4 hour to an hour at the most, so we decided to follow in  the car.  I reckon that some of the 'spectators' must have been before....They stayed behind, all willing to be locked in the field with their cars!  2 hours and 21 miles of bendy narrow country roads, stopping and starting, with a child that gets carsick in the back was somewhat "interesting" yet fascinating at the same time!  We followed the balloon the whole way.  Luckily we were following the jeep and trailer which had done this a few times before, or we would certainly have headed in the opposite direction. On occasions it did look like they were going home and leaving them to it!  The picture above was taken out of the car window the FIRST time we thought they were going to land.  They headed back up in the sky for another half an hour after this was taken.  The reason for the long flight, was that all the fields were full of crop and the balloon dictates the landing options, so whenever there was a suitable landing spot, the balloon wasn't happy to stop quite then!!  They finally landed just as it had gone dark, in a farmer's field in the middle of nowhere.

The passengers were all jabbering away excitedly whilst they helped fold the balloon away into its teeny weeny bag (Still can't believe that massive expanse of material could fold down SO small).
It was a great experience.  My mother is all ready to book again!!

An interesting evening!

We had people over for dinner last night (unintentionally!).  I had put the roast dinner on, with 30 mins to go, had used ALL the vegs and potatoes available, when the OH calls to say "I've invited two more  for dinner, is that alright?"  What could I say..they were sitting right next to him!

Anyway, I was fuming.. Had to get the hoover out and tidy up AND find food to go round!  They came in when I had the hoover in one hand and a knife in the other!  Well it turned out to be a really nice evening.  They had popped over to take us out for dinner to say thanks for doing the pics at their wedding recently. OH knew I'd got the dinner on and he'd be in trouble if he just said yes, so he invited them to join us instead.

I forgave OH and felt a bit guilty when B said that she felt like she was on the continent because we had just spontaneously invited them over without any reservations, which is something you don't generally find in England.  It turned out to be a very enjoyable evening.

I did do something very stupid though, and am suffering still!  I put the mash, which was in a stainless saucepan, in the oven to keep warm.  Took it out with the oven glove, told hubby to watch it cos it was very hot and then went and picked it up to start serving!! I have never known pain like it.  Luckily, I kept running it under the cold tap and packed it up with ice every chance I could, which I think has really helped this morning.  I did have a one handed bath and put my clothes on "single handedly" which was quite an achievement, but it does feel calmer this morning.  Not gonna be able to put my hands on the handlebars of my bike though, so I'll have to walk the dog whilst the boys cycle this afternoon - had planned to do the 12 mile circuit again round the Derwent Dam (that we did last Sunday for the Sponsored ride). So bang go my plans to get back on the bike for a few days.

Sponsored Bike Ride for local mum Kate

Well the weather was gorgeous and the ride was beautiful.  Although we do not have the official figures as yet, I reckon that at least 100+ people turned out to cycle in aid of Kate.  12 miles of meandering tracks AND HILLS around the Derwent in Derbyshire. The views were absolutely spectacular. The ride wasn't TOO bad.  All ages took to the pedal.  Kate's husband and 3 children were out in force.  The youngest (6) made us ALL proud.

Thank you to everybody who has donated or sponsored.  If you would still like to make a donation, you can donate online just click this link or  contact me via e-mail tina@littlemischiefs.co.uk or telephone 0114 262 1020
We will post the total amount raised when we have the details.

The hat for today!

Well we know the key outcome of the election will most definitely be a hung parliament, so we thought we'd mark today with a picture of a Merry Berry Strawberry Baby hat.  Bright red, with little orangy yellow highlights, topped with green and surrounded by blue!  It all works together very nicely too.

At £11 + p&p it really won't break the bank and the guarantee is that it will be admired by friends and strangers alike when baby wears it out!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS!

Sadly the Christmas tree and decorations will be packed away tomorrow for another 11 months.  But the Christmassy feeling is still with us. The scene outside our window is a beautiful white spread of deep deep snow, which helped make the return to school yesterday not such a daunting prospect.. the lovely cold white stuff made it all the more IMPORTANT to get back to school (the school playground that is,  rather than the classroom!)  Today the weather did mean that the little livewires could be picked up earlier than usual - a win win situation for my son and most of his friends of course.  He did find it difficult deciding between whether to stay at school building snow structures or to come home early and throw snowballs at the bedroom windows!!  Let's hope the snow doesn't stay around for TOOOO long!  Happy 2010 to you all xx
